Misfit Qualities attempts to challenge the tension between the real and its representation. This was carried out through studying John Hejduk’s Wall House II drawing. In the original drawing, he introduces the object and a possible way of reading the real using colors, chroma, saturation, and an oblique mode of representation. We kept the silhouettes the same but destabilized our understanding of the real through manipulation of representational qualities: colors, cast shades, shadows, absence of shadows, reflection, figuration, transparency, and texture. However, while the figuration remained the same, the new representational object blurred the distinction of the figures, which intensified the conflict between the real and its representation.
