Behind the Proun Paintings

In El Lissitzky's Proun paintings, shapes become the indexical markings of multiple entities by ascribing different formal attributes, geometrical definitions, and spatial conditions. They belong to simultaneous objects and multiple coordinate systems, so what we see is always part of something or can become part of many things. This ambiguity lies within the transition between the virtuality and the reality of the shapes.
