mershandlee is a Vienna-based architecture and design studio founded in 2017. It is a place where we explore, read, write, research, collect, draw, model, analyze, render, animate, collaborate, design, and practice architecture. We look at architecture through its meanings and narratives, considering its unique engagements with works of art and literature, as well as historical and cultural contexts. We believe in the potential of architecture and its ability to shape experiences, interactions, and ways of living.
Founding Partners :
Lida Badafareh is an architect and educator. She worked as a research associate and lecturer at the University of Innsbruck, where she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture. She holds her Master of Arts in Architecture and Urban Design from Städelschule, where her graduate thesis received the AIV Master Thesis Award. Previously she has also taught at Raumklasse at the Universität der Künste Berlin and worked as an architect and researcher for several architecture firms, including Coop Himmelb(l)au.
Mehrshad Atashi is an architect and educator. Previously, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Innsbruck, where he received his Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture. Mehrshad received his Bachelor of Architecture from Università degli Studi di Firenze and his Master of Arts in Architecture and Urban Design from Städelschule. He has also worked at Sou Fujimoto Architects in Tokyo and Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna.
