mershandlee is a Vienna-based architecture and design studio founded in 2017. It is a place where we explore, read, write, research, collect, draw, model, analyze, render, animate, collaborate, design, and practice architecture. We look at architecture through its meanings and narratives, considering its unique engagements with works of art and literature, as well as historical and cultural contexts. We believe in the potential of architecture and its ability to shape experiences, interactions, and new ways of living.
Founding Partners :
Lida Badafareh is an architect and educator. She worked as a research associate and lecturer at the University of Innsbruck, where she received a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture. She holds a Master of Arts in Architecture from Städelschule, where her graduate thesis received the AIV Master Thesis Award. Lida has also taught at the Institut Raum und Gestalt at TU Graz and Raumklasse at the Universität der Künste Berlin, and has worked as an architect and researcher for several architecture firms, including Coop Himmelb(l)au.
Mehrshad Atashi is an architect and educator. He received a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture from the University of Innsbruck. Mehrshad holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Università degli Studi di Firenze and a Master of Arts in Architecture from Städelschule. He has taught at the Institut Raum und Gestalt at TU Graz and the University of Innsbruck, and has also worked at Sou Fujimoto Architects in Tokyo and Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna.
